November meeting overview

For those of you who weren't able to make it to our monthly "core advisory group" meeting last night, I have compiled a brief overview.  Looking forward to seeing you at ArtLab next week (11/11/10, featuring Shannon Callan), and the next Big-Ass ELAB party!!!

In attendance: Marcus Wise, Dana Saylor, Tara Sasiadek, Steven Fox, Kyle Kaczmarek, Marissa Lehner, Sean Madden, Beth Okonczak, Kriss Welch

  •  Big-Ass Artistic License Party!  Happening Friday, November 19th- the launch of our new membership kit, awesome music, art-making collaboration, and plenty 'o' refreshments.  Oh, snap!  You know where the fun will be.
  • Community Events: Marissa's working on a proposal for Olmsted-themed mural at McKinley High School (Elmwood Ave).  Please contact her via Facebook ASAP with ideas/contributions/help.  Subcommittee mtg next week, 11/11 at 6pm, 464 Gallery (before ArtLab)
  • Art Workshops: coming soon!  One person leads, sharing what they know about their art or craft, and helping direct a structured workshop/art-making session.  Any medium is welcome.  We'll plan all four of these at the Dec. core meeting, so comment now if you have ideas or are interested in leading one!
  • Calendar: in December, we'll plan out an annual schedule for all our standard events, incl. Art Lab, core advisory mtgs, ArtWorking, Big-Ass parties, etc.
  • Collaboration/partnering: agenda item for next month.  All ideas on organizations and events with whom we can partner are welcome.
  • Membership: we are preparing to launch our new membership kit, complete with an explanation of who we are/what we do, and a list of benefits and perks.  You'll be able to sign up for your cleverly-named "Artistic License" card which will be detailed more, soon!
  • Blog: will be updated at least once weekly, with a variety of member posts, including ArtLab featured artist interviews by Tara Sasiadek, creative business/legal column with Steve Fox, and an Arts Preview by Marissa Lehner.
  • Bulk Art Supply ordering: Beth is handling future orders; let her know if you'd like to get in on it.  Might be able to work with Hyatt's and get great prices.  Send her your wish list via Facebook!
Well, that's all for now; feel free to comment, or email the group at elabuffalo@gmail.com with any questions, suggestions, etc.  Thanks for reading!
